Bystanders rescue a motorcyclist from under a burning BMW

Seeing this, my faith in people is now moving in a different direction!

Short Version - http://youtu.be/-Gys2daNMP8

Long Version - http://www.google.com/url?url=http:/...NTW_Mm1LtzBZpg

A group of people are directed away from the scene by police after tilting a burning BMW up to free Brandon Wright, on his back on the ground, who was pinned underneath after he collided with the car while riding his motorcycle on U.S. 89 in Logan, Utah. Authorities said Wright was riding his motorcycle near the Utah State University campus in Logan when the 21-year-old collided with the BMW that was pulling out of a parking lot. Tire and skid marks on the highway indicate that Wright laid the bike down and slid along the road before colliding with the car.

Video footage was taken from the top floor of USU's Eccles Business Building and captured the amazing moments when a group of bystanders, construction workers and students lifted the 4,000-pound car off the roadway while a man pulled Wright's leg to drag him from the wreckage.

The Utah State University student who was rescued Monday morning from under a burning car on a busy Logan highway is making a good recovery.

If it weren't for them he would be dead.

I got chills watching this.

Nice to see humanity doing the right thing. No heroes in my book. Just good people doing good. It should be more common.

I keep wondering about the man in the suit.

I wonder if he was driving the car.

He didn't get his suit dirty; that's for sure.

Here's an interview with the motorcycle rider.

I have to disagree with that.

Those people ran into a situation that could have severely injured or killed any one of them.

They went above and beyond in my book.

Some people would have felt they would have done enough by calling 911.

That's very true. I just wish this was more the norm. I could not imagine being
there and not taking action. And I hope the fine gent watching in the suit gets identified.

The only explanation in his favour is that he was the driver of the BMW and was shell shocked by the whole affair and thus was useless to the injured chap.

Otherwise, he'd be one of those who show their true colours under duress.

Fantastic heroism, very heartening given all the other stuff we hear about every day. It was automatic, without premeditation--just as we hope we'd all do if in that situation.

Very impressive. It was great to see the press conference with the motorcyclist - I needed to see that he was okay.

I think helmets are required in almost every state in the U.S. now.

They may not be required in Utah though where this accident took place.

New Mexico does not require helmets for those over 18.

Here's a map from Consumer Reports.
