Icon13 What a Monday... My best Junior Engineer gave Notice

By FAR the best guy I've got, been with us three years and was quickly moving up the ranks, but got swooned away by the competition. I offered him a 25% raise, a lateral move (to get away from an A#@H#$%! Vice President, which is the main reason he wants to leave), everything I could do, but he has stars in his eyes from these other guys. Great... just great.

I Don't know HOW, but SOME WAY, ... It's JOCKE'S FAULT!!!!!

Good people are hard to hold onto, expecially when there are personality issues. Money does not always address everything.

It seems to be an employer's job market currently, so I suspect that there will be considerable competition for the job.

Good luck.

That sucks. The key to keeping things running smoothly is to only keep the best and pay them what they are worth.

Nope, just a Director Brian, I still report to a VP. Rumors have it next year I may make the jump up... Either that or I'll be working at Starbucks.

Never underestimate the motivation one gets (to leave, that is) from working with an 'A#@H#$%! Vice President' or any other like-minded co-worker. I don't, of course, mean you. But maybe Jocke did have some hand in this.

I'm just saying.

I wouldn't think you'd have much problem finding a replacement. A friend who has a master's in electrical engineering and holds over 20 patents just got downsized out of a telecommunications company that he had worked for 18 years and isn't getting a nibble to his resumes.

It sucks losing good people, but such is life. Talented employees always have lots of option and ambitious ones tends to take advantages of them. Which means you are stuck with...

As BB used to say, don't get mad, get even. Go out and hire talent! :-)

It looks as if I have to come over and control it all up. Whilst of course when you become unemployed, Paul, for me, you can not cheat.

What is best a custom Rolex or a Rolex that is stuck in custom?

Buy a professional camera and you´re a professional
