An encounter with Swedish royalty
My ancestors moved to the USA from Sweden in 1860. My middle daughter lives in Turku, Finland, and when she heard that Victoria, Crown Princess of Sweden, Duchess of Västergötland and her husband would be visiting today, she walked to the library where she was appearing. Princess Victoria strolled down the street and spoke with people lining the way.
Emily said "Hello" in English, and the Princess stopped and posed for a photo. Em sent me the picture. She was thrilled to see her, given that many of her Swedish friends talked frequently about her. Here is Emily's brush with royalty. |

Nice shot!
I must say that the royal couple looks so, well, normal.

Emily loves living in Finland. She regularly visits our Swedish foreign exchange student from 1996 in Stockholm. After living her entire life in the US, she is amazed by the lack of violent crime in Scandinavia and Finland. She can walk anywhere in Turku day or night without fear. The drunk driving laws are so severe there that alcohol-related crashes are unusual compared to the US. "Normal" seems to be "the norm."

In 1987, (I think) Fergie came out to the carrier for a visit. I remember she was pregnant so they wouldn't ler her take a cat shot, she arrived and departed by helicopter. I took about 47 pictures of her...
