Now don't worry too much about the series thing, now the oils now used in Rolex watches for the last 10 plus years. Are designed for long use or stored for long periods of time, remember some Rolex gold watches are very poor sellers. So some might be a few years old,but basically the whole Rolex range has changed very little since the introduction of the Cal 3135/Cal 3185 in 1988.Models like the sports range the only change is the SEL bracelet and non lug hole cases.Hardly mind blowing so called improvements, all the date series means is a case was stamped later or earlier than the other. And any series watch thats bought new, from any Rolex AD will be covered by a Rolex full two year warranty

thanks pady for your answer, my SD is a D series, I am not worried about, the "problem" is a friend who (after I bought my watch) came with me to the AD

he wanted to buy a daytona

when the dealer told him that this daytona that he has stored, was a F series my friend who is a coleccionist and makes the revision of his watches each 5 years (but never bought a rolex) says "but if I buy this watch I must to do the service the next 2 years !!!"

the dealer was so surprised, that nothing said, and I say "ok we come back in a few days etc etc"

so, I am trying to convence with your arguments but

It shouldn't need a service in two years, it's still a BRAND NEW watch even though it's been sitting in the jewelers case. Its not like it's been running continuously for 3 years.

It's very possible that "F" and "D" series watches can be found on some dealers shelves.

Remember, the clock starts at purchase, whether it be the warranty or any perceived timetable start for service.

If I found an "F", I would be asking for a discount since the dealer got that in the shop at the earlier wholesale cost, and did not have to absorb the increased cost to him last year.
