Competing with JJ...DD to go after less than one month.
Shared a few pictures with everyone a few weeks ago of the growing Rolex family: YG DD with white Roman; YM TT blue; SS Sub. But I just haven't been able to warm up to the YG DD...feel like my grandfather when wearing it. Went and looked at the YG Sub with blue face, and will probably go with that.
Know I'm going to take a hit on the DD, but someone will be getting a good deal, as I've only worn it about 5 times, and I'm careful...no scratches. That is until the AD took off the band to remove that hair from the face...now have some tiny scratches next to the pins underneath from removing them I guess. Everything visible on the outside is flawless. I'm unfamiliar with dealing with EBay, but maybe thats what I'll have to do. Of course would like it to go to a good home, so if anyone is interested.... Take care, All. |

Keep the DD until you are a grandfather. It should feel better then!
You will eventually regret dumping the DD.

My sugestion: keep what you got, (their all beautiful watches), and add the sub to your collection. Or.... although I really like the white dial w/romans, my DD looks alot less like a grandfathers watch just because of a differant face. I have the" blue deg" or otherwise known as "blue vignette" on mine and it totally changes the personality. Still not a sport watch, but fits my style much better. I think you would be out less $ this way than trading for
another watch. There are lots of dials to choose from from mild to wild. BTW, still buy the sub. |

Keep it!
You'll lose way to much money by flipping it, and it is such a beauty!

JJ - I was referring to all the flack that you've received for turning-over Rollies...was just preparing to take some heat myself!
I appreciate everyone's input. Will certainly give it some more consideration and try not to act impulsively. However, having said that, I did exchange the TT YM for the Pt/SS version. Thats because I felt the TT Sub was a more handsome TT, and figured I'd go with that at some point. Eyeballing the YG Sub with blue face at the AD yesterday was what gave me the idea contained in this thread. They also had the DD with the Masterpiece bracelet (Pearlmaster) in both the YG and Pt with meteor face. Really liked the PT (about $74k USD) but could NEVER see being able to feel comfortable with the diamond bezel. Take care, All. |

The GOOD news is that you can ALWAYS "act impulsively" during an operation since you are a forensic doc. No "false" cut could harm the patient

If you don't like it on your wrist, then you just don't and you're making the right call. Hindsight is always 20/20, but ultimately I think you're making the right choice. Better that you recoup some money and spend it on a watch you'll be happy wearing...you may even want to go used on the Sub to help defray the pain of being upside-down on the DD. Good luck!

That is such a hard call. The White Face DD with the Roman numerals is just BEAUTIFUL! But, it's your watch to do with what you want.

The gold DD is just what I want. I'd be complete and not need years of psychiatry. :-) As for selling the others, you can always tell your patients they need a boost of esteem and loan them a Rolex for a month. That way it is a tax write-off as a business expense too. :-)

No, it won't be easier. You still have to decide on which one to buy.

Hi Doc,
YG, White dial with gold roman, gold day/date on white background with fluted bezel is the 100% best DD in the collection. At least think about it for a while. IMO you will never own a nicer Rolex.

Go for Gold!
I can never quite understand why the DD (particularly solid gold) is considered an "old man's" watch. Probably a vicious rumour started by someone who never has or never will have one.
But seriously they are a timeless watch elegant, classy and a true sign that you have "made it". Instantly recognisable. I know a lot of guys in their 30's who lust after one. You may very well regret it if you sell it now, just wear it a bit and know that you'll be the envy of many but mostly because its an acknowlegment (I'm sure among other things) of your life achievements. |
