Sub C to Exp 39mm?
While I really love the Sub C, I am considering flipping it for the new Exp I. I wear mostly suits / dress stuff in the week and sometimes I find the sub just a little too chunky. I had considered a DJ but I do dress quite casually on the weekend and not sure it would be very suitable with shorts / tshirt. I owned the 36mm Exp and really liked it a great deal but at the end of the day, found it just a little too small for my 7" wrist. The really killer was when my sig other asked if it was a girls watch as she had always seen me wear 40-42mm. So... what do you think of the Exp 39mm for an every day wearer that can do dual duty at work but still look good with casual dress? Am I nuts to get rid of the Sub C? BTW, in case it is suggested - I do not care for the 41mm DJ's.
Interested in hearing some thoughts... thx. |

Keep the Sub C and buy the 39mm (pre-owned if you don't mind)

I wouldn't get rid of the Sub C. I would recomend getting either the Explorer or DJ as a second watch. Having a couple of great options is always better than just having one.

if subc is too chunky, but you like the submariner, and you are a one watch guy, how about the 16610?

Keep the SubC.
You will mis the date function because you are used to that now. IMHO I think the "hands of time" are to short on the EXI (39mm).

Exp I 39mm is an excellent and versatile addition, can be worn with anything if you are a one watch man
Having said that, the SUBc is an awesome bit of kit

Nothing bad to say about the Sub, but the 39mm Exp is really an every single day watch in my opinion.
Got mine a few weeks ago, and have so far worn it with suits, sweaters, t-shirts, a tux, shorts, etc. Somehow always looks appropriate, and the size is perfect. |

I've thought about trading my 14060M for a EXP39 for the similar reasons. But to me, no watch is more versatile than the Sub. Sure, the EXP39 is slimmer and dressier than the Sub (but still not necessarily dressy), but I couldn't give up the eye-catching bezel and triplock crown of the Sub.

Exp 1 is dressier but during the week you might want the date function, depending on your job. You could also check out the DJII if you want a big dressier watch with a date.

I seriously regret selling one Rolex for another now that I'm older and wiser.
Imo wait and save, then you'll have no regrets down the road and two great time pieces. Edit; Plus I could not live without the Sub's timing bezel for too long ! |
