There is this guy in Argentina (my home country) that builds really nice high end competition bikes ... mostly carbon fiber frames and wheels ... I am seriously thinking of having him build a custom for me (I have problems with off the shelf bikes as I am "vertically challenged" so to speak). I don't know the current price list but he used to be reasonable. His bikes are nothing short of stunning.
You can check some of the frames here, just for kicks ... I am thinking black with black stickers (like an old Cannondale I used to have). http://www.priviterabike.com/cuadrovalentin.html I've been mostly running for the last few years, but the bike is calling me back!

She's up on the ramps at the mo being rebuilt but she's basically a Mongoose Teocali Downhiller.
She's a Californian import (into the UK) and assembled for me by Mongoose UK to my specs. I'll post more when she's back in one piece. She's one of my favourite things on Earth and man, have I flown on her. Everything bar the frame is CF and I've spec'd it for fast downhill work. Haven't managed to brake her yet. I know a lot of Americans don't rate Mongoose because, apparently, you can but a $99 Mongoose in Walmart but this one is the real deal Mongoose DNA Professional - Eric Carter won the World Downhill Championships four times in a row on the same bike. |

Surly Steamroller fixed gear (42x16) for getting around town. Look 555 for the long rides. Love biking and use it as my primary transportation method. I have a car, but only drive about 2-3k miles per year.

Just picked my son up from McLaren Vale at the end of 'Amy's Ride'.
A few pix + his distance, speed, cadence and ave speed for you bikers. It was a great day for the Amy Gillett Foundation. I'll say this for the young man. He left at 7.00am and rode to the start line. http://www.amygillett.org.au/amys-ri...ustralia-2011/

Very nice. I rebuilt one of those for a very famous chap - whose name I won't bother with - but it was a joy to do and he certainly paid a great deal of money to have it done.
The real pain was getting a colour match for the lovely metallic green paintwork but we got there in the end. |

My avatar speaks for itself :
Epic Expert Elite 29'' 2012. Stumpjumper FSR Elite 2011. They may look similar but they're two completely different beasts. |

Some of mine:
I still have a single speed Tricross and a Giant SCR. I have sold both single speed On Ones, and the strange GT single speed conversion has been given to my Dad...

I've just noticed how similar my taste in watches and bikes is. Simple, classic, basic...
Single speed bikes with steel or aluminium frames and this:
