Datejust interrogatory

Hello,

Im going to start a little 'interrogatory' to the Rolex datejust.

Does, old vintage datejusts have the ROLEX ROLEX ROLEX ROLEX words engraved inside around the dial?

Can anybody let me know what dials are available in old and new datejusts? Ive seen a lot of them with different bezels also, and im not really sure wich one to choose.

Thanks,

Antonio

Hi Antonio,

No, the ROLEX chapter ring inscription would not be on the chapter rings of "old" Datejusts. I believe Rolex started writing Rolex on some of the new Datejust, including the TOG ("Turn o' Graph") models in 2004. Might be wrong on the year, though.

Here is a link with a selection of Datejust dials for the new DJ models (but there are FAR more options, this is just a selection).

Point with your mouse to "try out the dial on the DJ"

Now that dial configurator should be standard on the Rolex website for all its models, but at a higher resolution.

Thanks Spaced.

Do you know if it can be added to a serviced watch, or that require some modification when they are manufacturer? Im going to try to get one of 'my age', 1987

Not sure, but I don't think so.

Reason: The inner chapter "ROLEXROLEXROLEX" inscription actually includes the invidual serial number of the Rolex on the chapter ring between 5 and 7 o' clock.

The serial number on your Rolex - as you probably know - is engraved at six o' clock on the case itself "behind the bracelet's end link".

I doubt if Rolex would make a chapter ring and put the serial number of YOUR watch on it.

Thank you all,

I have now 2 possible watches, one was manufactured around 1985, and the other around 1987. Anybody know what they have different? The 1985 I have is more near me, and cheaper. The 1987 is in US and is a bit more expensive, but bot are excellent without documentation. My born date is 1987, wich one you like, or will get in my situation? ;)
