The votes are in and I've made my decision

I posted yesterday seeking advice and opinions for a Rolex dive watch. The response was swift and nearly overwhelming. All of my questions were answered, and the advice was varied and well-reasoned.

Thanks to all who responded:

SWFLA1 for telling me, dude, you want a Sea-Dweller. He knew it before I did!

timebroker for taking the time to answer every single one of my many questions.

Tools for telling me I wouldn't go wrong with any of my choices, then steering me towards the classiest looking of the bunch, the black TT, and posting photos of his to boot.

KansaiVet for offering to help get a price break from a local AD.

Mike for making me feel like I got to sit in on a Rolex class for free and for posting photos of my two first choices for comparison.

GoldenBear for warning me to be especially cautious if I tried to go through an unauthorized AD in Belize.

Letsgodiving for giving some great advice one diver to another.

DaveN for reminding me it's important to at least think about being wiser as I grow older.

roadcarver for boiling it down to date vs no date and recommending I try them on for size before making my final decision.

directioneng for making a great point about whether this purchase will be a one off or the start of a Rolex watch collection (I've elected the latter).

Spacedweller for making it very clear that I better try on an SD before deciding to go with it.

subfiend for showing how cool it's going to be to take my Rollie down under.

David1971 for making a plug for the LV and encouraging me to think outside the box.

Lol-x for plugging both the LV and the GMT II, then reminding me how lucky I am in to live in sales tax-free heaven Oregon (true, but this is also property tax hell Portland).

Mike (again) for still more comparison photos. Mike, you're an animal!

and finally

TNRonin for providing a link showing that the SD is the real deal.

So I went down to an AD, tried on various models, looked lovingly at the black TT and picked... the Sea-Dweller. It's the best first Rolex for me.

I'll have to wait about two months to clean up my finances as I'm still paying off our dive trip to Mexico last month as well as plunking down deposits on our dive trip to Belize next summer, but assuming the economy doesn't crash or a meteor doesn't fall on my head, etc, I should be the proud new owner of an SD just in time for the start of rainy season.

Hey, at least I won't have to worry about my watch getting wet.

Thanks again, everyone. I can't tell you how much I appreciated the time and effort you guys took to respond to my many questions. Man, what a Forum!

P.S. But what about the black TT you ask? Well, I've been a very good boy so far this year and there's only 143 days left until Christmas so...

Although I may be a little biased I think you made the right decision. You won't be dissapointed.
