The AP Effect

This is such an interesting and unique brand. Not sure how the general WIS public feels, but AP didn't catch my eye to begin with. It took some time. And I'm a person that generally sees what I like immediately. Now I'm smitten by several models, namely the Diver and 15300.

Damn...

Absolutely. The designs are quite something and I have rarely had a watch arrive which has quite had the effect the safari did. On the wrist it's one of the most comfortable watches I own which is saying something for its size.

I was showing my wife the ap video recently posted by Thomas and she saw the diver.... Her words were: "that is absolutely amazing... You have to get it!" I'm like : "I just got the safari" and she's all: " I know, and that will compliment it perfectly. We aren't going away for Christmas this year so what you'll save there can be the diver!"

Well... What's a man to do!!!!!!

It´s a great watch with the most comfortable rubber strap I´ve worn. I find the tang buckle to be much more comfortable than the AP deployant you have on your Safari. The strap doesn´t tapers, making the watch sit better on the wrist.

IMO it has the perfect mix of sporty, rugged and classic looks with the beautiful dial reminiscent of the original Jumbo.

I´m also a fan of the superb in house movement that powers it. As you can tell by now, I really like it.

The only flaw to me, is that the internal bezel is hard to turn while on the wrist but I can live with that.

I foolishly traded mine a couple of months ago and I´m in the works of buying my second Diver.

My advice: Go for it!

There is something special about AP, you will love it more than you expected it to be. That is the reason why one is never enough!

A few years ago I was hoping to buy a RO platinum boutique (pre owned). Limited edition of about 50 pieces, so you can imagine it wasn't cheap. My wife has no interest in watches at all and thats the only time my wife has said "Get it."

Couple of years ago we were in the Paris boutique and they had the same model watch. I tried it on and she was encouraging me to buy it- she took the salesman's side. She even said "Put in the card and we'll sort out how to pay it later"!!

I couldn't believe it! That's the AP effect!!

Thats a great pic.

I really wish they'd give the Diver a smaller "waffle" dial and put crown guards on the 15300.

Hope they have dial colour options on the Diver soon.

I think its the best of the ROO series for sure....
To me their chrono is kinda a let down as it is not an integrated movement
AND it is a bit big for my wrist anyway.

I was really thinking about getting the ROO Diver but you can't use the bezel when in the water and usually most people set it when jumping in and I just think thats silly for a real diver, even my IWC Aquatimer with the internal bezel you can set the bezel in water. I really think I am going to wait and try to get a Nautilus Chrono!!! Droooolllll

Better make sure you get a Patek without a chrono module!

Interesting article. Thanks.

Brands I know they work with include Breitling, Omega, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Rolex, Patek-Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Richard Mille, and a lot others.
Would it be safe to assume that some of the above quoted brands were the ones they "used to work with"......?

Really enjoyed this read. Before I bought my AP I found out that the movement wasn't all in-house and it was almost a deal killer for me. I soon got over that and this article just commended my decision. I liked how they described the Swiss watch makers as working together toward a common good....incestuous even.
