They´re similar but don´t look the same or have the same specs.

The Wempe Scuba is a limited edition that commemorates the 100th anniversary of Wempe and only 175 pieces were made in steel. It houses the AP 2325 automatic movement.
The Diver is the first watch from AP to be ISO 6425 certified, the international standard for diver’s watches. It´s powered by the AP 3120 automatic movement.

thank you for the great info! I wish I knew what the different movements meant - is that important to me? I dont dive more than 6ft in a pool!

Look at you other thread "Scuba vs Diver"
The Wempe has the same specs as the Scuba.

Both movementes are reliable and with a good track history. Either will be fine for a 6ft dive.

Also, the date wheel is different. White on black (Diver) & black on white (Wempe). The Wempe box is incredible & you have to see the case engraving on the back of the Wempe to believe it. Stunning.

But the main difference is the Diver is engineered for work. For diving. The Wempe & Scuba's not so. I know Thomas will disagree with me on that one!

But here's a link to a great review. Scroll down for the video of the watch being used as it's engineering intended. And there ain't a desk in sight!

I just think for a regular user "6ft" of diving you would be ok with either one,
Being a professional diver a whole other story

Swimming either will work but the Wempe version seriously lacks in the WR
dept if you are doing more than swimming.

If I was to buy one it would be the new Divers without a doubt.
Only reason for the LE is if you are a collector.
Also, it seems the LE does not have the demand the Diver does.....

I like the Scuba better because of the JLC 889/2 based movement. There's nothing wrong with the 3120 but I just feel JLC movements are technically hard to beat.

I thought all the LE Audemars were more desirable.

1) The AP divers has a phenomenal AP in-house movement. Strike one.

2) The AP divers is the only AP diving watch certified to meet ISO specs (enough lume etc). Strike two.

3) Who the F cares about Wempe? I sure don't want their name/logo on any of my watches.

If you are going to buy either of those, buy the AP Diver.

Just my 2 cents.

I think it's such a shame the Wempe is being seen as a bastard AP. It has the more detailed dial (guilloche ? ) as opposed to the Divers stamped dial and was the template for the Diver. I understand that the Wempe was the genesis for AP to have a diver model, at all.

The Wempe logo is nowhere near as visible as the publicity shots would have you believe. The logo has been highlighted to enforce the Wempe brand. Here's a link that shows wristshots of the Wempe on a bracelet. You'll have to scroll down.

(Credit & thanks to Diego for the pics).

Here's another link with info and a pic of the stunning caseback. Pics do not do the engraving justice at all!

Not all. Many are very hard to shift, the Shaq being just one example.

That you for that background plus the links to the stunning photos. Those paneristis sure know how to acquire and photograph watches! :-)

I do agree that Wempe was pivotal in the creating of the ROO Diver, however, I still much prefer single branded watches.
