Leather straps for smaller watches
I am thinking of getting a dark brown leather strap for an Explorer 1 (36mm).
(It sounds a little odd but I think it gives the watch a nice retro look.) The straps from the custom strap makers ( eg Toshi) seem to be very thick (4-5mm) which may be fine for a 44mm Panerai but too thick for the Explorer. Can the vast resources of this forum suggest something more appropriate? |

go to www.stonecreekstraps.com. jeanna makes some wonderful straps and has many pics on her website. all handmade all by her! and, if you ask me she should charge 2-3x what she charges for the quality of the straps. they are that good!

There are tons of nice straps available for an Explorer, and you don't need a custom strap, at all. You might search Hadley Roma, Hirsch, or DiModell on ebay to find some sources. Most sellers carry more than one brand. For an Explorer, I'd suggest a strap at least 3mm thick at the lugs, and 4mm-5mm can look very nice.
Two sellers I've used before are "strappedfortime" and "Freda". |

The Di Modell rally strap looks good on an explorer.....it's sorta a black coffee color, has a retro look to it.
