If you could bring 1 person back from the dead....

other than family, who would it be? Someone 'famous', well known, influential, etc.... I'll start, and say Jimi Hendrix, believe it or not. No, he can't bring world peace or save the planet, but the man is considered the greatest guitar player of all time by some, certainly by me, and I would love it if he was still here making incredible music.
What about you?

John Lennon because he was my favorite composer and I would of loved to be his friend and have long conversations. He was a very interesting person with many opinions and diverse thoughts!!!

I know you said other than family, but my grandfather, because I didn't get to spend enough time with him. He died when I was 7 and he was such a great guy. He influenced my love of animals.

Other than that Steve Irwin, because he was just a really great person and conservationist and I think he left this world too early!!

We are all products of our time and as time goes by the contribution we can make is diminished to some degree or another.

Even if there were ways for those who would be brought back from the dead to continue to contribute, it is highly likely that the changes in society and technology would both delight them and drive them crazy.

For most of us what passes for popular culture becomes at best an irritation by the time we hit 40.

I often think that I'd like to have Beethoven listening along with me to his music that has been recorded in the modern era and also to some of the great music that has been created since his death. I think this because I feel such a connection to his music.

Then it occurs to me that long before his death, Beethoven was completely deaf and, even if he could hear if he were to be brought back, the world would be so changed that it's doubtful he could process it all enough to really enjoy it.

There are many great talents who are still living whom the world has simply passed by. Their talents remain intact, but the audiences and their tastes have changed.

We do miss both our loved ones and those who have left a distinct positive mark on society, but in reality, we would probably not be doing them or ourselves a favor by bringing them back from the dead.

I have to agree .. There are a few loved ones in my life that have passed on and I would love nothing more than to get the chance to spend just five more mins with them .. I sometimes think about that and I realize just how selfish that thought really is .. I am willing to bet that not one of my dearly departed loved ones would ever want to return for any length of time or for any reason .... Merry Christmas to you
