Sorry it looks like your weekend will be a wash out.

Up here we're predicted to get sunshine ant low 80's F. I don't want to rub it in, but it sort of makes up for the times when we're shoveling snow and you're basking in the warmth of the Caribbean sun.

I did not evacuate for Hurricane Charlie (CAT 4). I will NEVER stay for another...

We had a fun year on '05. Emily (Cat 3, eye over our office) and Wilma (Cat 5, recorded as the strongest atlantic hurricane in history, measured by its internal pressure). I am oceanFRONT, not fun during these babies....

Yea, '04 was our year - 4 majors in 5 weeks... i got real tired of it... we're close to the coast as well - Charlie's eye came within 2 miles and of course we were on the NE side...the worst side.

After a 2 years of reconstruction (paid for by us, not the government) things are almost back to normal..but hey, I got a new roof and new pool enclosure out of the deal

and waaaay higher insurance rates

oh well...

Never even hit Corpus! Alot of businesses were shut down today in anticipation! In fact, we got very minimal rain. Hopefully Hurricane Dean won't hit anywhere and will just fizzle out!

This one reminds me of Wilma. I live in South Florida and have been through several including Andrew. Not fun. I wish you the best. Wilma kicked our ass on her way back and I live on the Atlantic side of Florida.

Yes. 72 hours over here; cat 5. Torn over 20,000 hotel rooms and put Cancun and Cozumel in the worst business scenario ever. Just 10,000 power-posts were down, we spent 10 days with no power or running water.

That satellite photo showing Cozumel through the eyewall is just unreal.

As you know, Cozumel had a huge concrete and steel rebar reinforced cruise ship dock that got snapped into pieces like it was nothing.

72 hrs at Cat 5 was just terrible. We had a Cat 3 buzz though and the windows on my house were bowing. I cant imagine how bad it must have been by you.

My customer. Yes, that dock is gone (will take 2 years to clean and re build) and the other 2 piers were severely damaged. 72 hours with a cat 5 just wipe everything away.

We too are keeping a close eye on Dean as it can easily turn North and head for us in Miami, FL.

Even a minimum category 1 Hurricane can cause lots of damage to ones home!

Just be prepared and have the necessary supplies needed to keep you for a few days.

It's unreal how people here in Miami and elsewhere I'm sure wait to the last minute to buy supplies and the rudeness that follows them in thier haste.

Talk about some real tossers...
