Runners: What kind of watch do you wear for running?

I started a thread in the vintage forum a few months ago when I was enthusiastically using one of my vintage watches on runs and I was rightfully chastised for it

I got a new Nike watch for Christmas that seems pretty cool, but it lacks GPS functionality...I was thinking about trading it in for some kind of Garmin, but I'm not up to speed on what's good. Any recommendations? I run 5+ miles every day and like to track my time per mile and distance, etc.
