Datejust - What Bracelet To Get?
So, I have a Datejust with a jubilee band that's starting to show some stretch. I'd like to replace it, but really don't want to spend the money for a new bracelet from Rolex.
Obviously, I'm not looking for a fake or anything with the Rolex logo, but, what's a good option for bands on a Datejust? |

Check out the for sale section here. You can find good deals for both oyster and jubilee bracelets. If you are looking less expensive, go with a leather strap.

You can always have the band repaired instead of buying a new one.

It's not a lot of stretch, but, I'd like to have another one in order to keep the original intact. This watch has a lot of sentimental value to me, so just trying to preserve as much of it as possible.
Can I ask what you paid? I've never heard of Dallas Watch - I'll have to look them up. |

I'd recommend an oyster, but I'm biased.

First thing I would do is throw the bracelet in an ultrasonic cleaner so you can remove the gunk inside the pins that is causing the stretch. The gunk acts like polishing compound over time. After an hour in the cleaner the water will be pretty black.
Michael Young is no longer taking orders for refurbishing, but there is a guy in Florida who does it. Essentially the process is the bracelet is ripped apart by a press, enlarged replacement pins are insert to take up the enlarged inside diameter and the links are pressed back together. If done properly, it should be like new and the original bracelet.

I've been watching this thread in hopes someone would have a pointer to some oyster bracelets for sale, because I'm in the hunt for one too.

TT or SS TT is very pricey and a rebuild may be a much better way to go
I paid $700 for a SS jubilee for my GMT from a fellow TRF member |

That would be my choice, you can always try to make some endlinks fit the leather band as well so it will look really nice. Otherwise if you're looking at TRF sellers I'd pick an Oyster bracelet.
