Thoughts on Rolex 1675
Hello Gang,
I am considering buying this GMT and really need the perspective of the experts here. This one is close to a grail for me so I have to ask: http://forums.timezone.com/index.php...=5999661&rid=0 Wanted to get your thoughts on it. Price is in my range and in line with other examples I have looked at. My questions are: 1. Anything I should be alarmed at based on the pictures? Anything I should question? 2. Anyone have experience with this seller? Maurice Villalobos (Costa Rica) Thank you kindly, Eli Weisman [email protected]

Is the Coronet on the dial supposed to be applied like that?? I thought they were painted on.....of course I could be wrong.

I think the coronet should be exactly like that on this model nipple dial.

You might ask if the dial is original to the watch or a service replacement. It looks fine, though, the watch would be ca. late '70s. The applied coronet is appropriate for a "nipple" dial.
The seller is a relatively long-time member of TZ and collector, but I haven't dealt with him personally.

I think it looks good. Might inquire about any service history.

Thanks everyone - I have inquired about:
-Service History -What the "Recent Service" included -Replaced / Service parts (dial, hands, etc) I've seen this dial with both the painted on Coronet as well as the applied one. I don't know what the "rules" are, but have seen more painted ones than applied. Is it normal to be this nervous about getting a grail?? I have always wanted this watch.

One last question for you gents. What is the difference between the 1675 and the 16753?

The watch looks fine and appears very nice. Be extra vigilant buying outside of your home country!
The GMT 1675's did not have a different model number to distinguish the two-tone model from the stainless steel model. When the 1675 was discontinued around 1980, the two-tone 16753 GMT was introduced along with the stainless GMT 16750. With the release of the 16750/16753, the GMT now had a quick-set date feature, unlike the 1675 which did not.

Looks okay to me....its a real plus that the case is thick, as most are overpolished. The dial looks good along with everything else. But be careful buying out of country due to customs. Also check the service history...good luck

The watch is a stunner! 1675 is non-quick set and 16753 is quick-set. The bracelet code should be 62523-H14 (SS/14K) and not 62510 (SS) as it is mentioned in the FS listing. The nipple dial with the applied coronet is correct for the time period of that watch, latter nipple dials circa the 6 Million serial have the coronet painted on the dial. Just like mine. Here's a pic.

Great site - I've been reading through that one for a while. Waiting on wiring instructions from the shipper now.
Any pointers on dealing with international FedEx / Customs? Taxes? etc?

Love that Root Beer!
I love your Root Beer GMT - I've always wanted one, but haven't come across one in the right condition at the right time. I almost went with one recently, but the hands were too deteriorated for my tastes. Looking at the missing lume would make me crazy, but it was a great watch.

I thought there were some issues getting a Rolex shipped into the states from other countries Plus, do you really want to send money to a person in Costa Rica and hope for the best
Maybe some more experienced people will weigh in on the shipping issues-- |

I haven't been able to get much information about shipping INTO the U.S. from the forums and would welcome advice!

Received the watch from a seller with solid references and I can say that I am 100% happy with the purchase.
