Also for re-sellers who work with ADs - to keep the ADs from getting in trouble with Rolex.

There's no real need to show the whole serial number, it's just a precaution worth taking.

Can you imaging unknowingly post pix of your Rolex with serial number showing, some low life made replica with that serial number and then it was reported. A few years later you sent your Rolex into RSC for a service and got a call....

I personally use my watches for 12-15 months before I change them, I then send them to RSC to be serviced and polished, I will then either put it away or sell it, the reason for the polish is, if I sell a rolex to someone, and in a lot of cases have had to work hard to save for one, when they get that watch and open the box and it looks a million dollars you just think wow, I use to and still do for that matter, so polished, if right, is not a bad thing IMHO

There are enough people creating fakes out there that I wouldn't want someone to use my number for their purpose. It's also possible there maybe other reasons that I am not aware of which may not be a good idea for me to post my serial number.

There's no good reason for someone to post the full serial number that I can think of, it serves no good purpose.

To me it's worth taking the precaution of not posting the serial number.

The reason is primarily the potential for others to make fraudulent insurance claims based on the pretence that they previously owned your watch.......

If you post wrist shots/photos which include the serial number, the fraudster not only has the model and serial number but more importantly, very handy photos of you/him wearing the very same watch to evidence ownership when making the claim.

By visiting this site a few times, the fraudster can gather up quite a few validating photos of your watch to help evidence his insurance claim.

The only time you will realise this has happened is if you ever need to make a claim yourself and the serial number will already have been logged on the insurance companies database. Not sure if such databases are international but certainly within the UK there is a database accessible to all insurance companies.

If you have the original receipt and bought from new then you will be fine. However, how many of us buy pre-owned and often for cash........

Far easier just to be careful and remove serial numbers from your photos IMO. But up to you .....
