I am going to buy an Explorer II, can anybody tell me its technical aspect ?

I know that the hour hand can be adjusted separately from the GMT hand. To make adjustment, the seller tells me that the best way is to set the time to 12:00 midnight so that the GMT hand, the hour hand and the minute hand all coincide. Then the hour hand can be advanced forwards or retreated backwards. I just wonder if such adjustment at 12:00 midnight could ruin the gears which drive the day wheel.

He even tells me NOT to make any adjustment at 2 specified times (sharply at 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m.). I really feel confused ! Is he correct ?

Thanks
Chow.
