There might also be a problem and it is reporting false numbers. I logged in briefly yesterday morning, but yesterday afternoon from another computer I saw that I was still logged in from that morning.

I was not logged in when I checked. Seems to me it might be grabbing and holding logins as they come and go, which would make it an inaccurate record.

If you have disconnected to the forum I doubt that it would count you as an active user, however if you only minimize the forum and stay online I think that you will be counted.

This is my point. My login name appears on these record breaking lists, but I was not logged in to this forum when these record breaking numbers occured. I log in only if I decide to post. It should log me out when I close down, but it hasn't been. I noticed this yesterday when I showed this forum to someone on another computer. I was not logged in yet my login appeared on the list.

"currently active users" is a list of users that have been active on the forum in the last 3 hours. This lets people know who has recently been active on the forum. 'currently active users' is not saying who is online at any given moment.
If you log off, you will still appear in 'currently active users' until the expiration of the 3 hour time out.
If you wish to see whether there are any new threads in a forum, you can use the icons on the left side of the screen on the home page. Double clicking will reset the forum as read.
