A Fremtastic Story

As some may know one of our TRF members Fremstar recently received a Tudor Heritage Chrono. Here's a link to his incoming:

http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=212784

I was lucky enough to follow the clues and guessed what was arriving. Unkown to me there was a prize in the offing. Well I received his generous gift on Friday and have now had a chance to fully appreciate it. For those who've never seen this book first let me tell you it's huge and heavy. It would take me hours to describe it all but hopefully some of these pictures will tell the story. First thing you see inside is a certificate identifying this copy as a 1st edition signed by the author and publisher. The minute I turned to the title page I noticed a crowd beginning to arrive. I guess they all wanted to know more about their heritage. The last 2 pics are watches found in the book. One may not be a Rolex. Can you guess which one? Once again Fremstar thank for this great book.

Congratulations to you for that great gift, Sam is a one of a kind on this forum indeed and this thread perfectly shows his generosity!

Now I'm not sure about your question but I'm thinking that moonphase watch may not be a Rolex, could you elaborate the question?

As Sam would do I'll give you a clue. The book lists the moonphase as an 81806 reference and the dual sub dial chrono as a 3853 reference. One appears to have a questionable background.

Well the Google Search I made for the Rolex 81806 gave me this model.

I think I got it!

From this website

Please let me quote, this is talking about the ref. 6062:

There is also strong evidence, such as dial drawings/prototypes and written documentation, which indicate the presence of a prototype model bearing reference 81806 which did not go into series production.

What do I win!?

I can send you the used FedEx box that Sam sent the book in

Not according to the websites we posted in this thread, seems like it's supposed to be a prototype of the ref. 6062 who may never have been made.

Wow! Rick, I was not expecting this at all, a simple PM would have been fine. I am truly appreciative of TRF and all it's great members. I have definitely learned a lot and I'm still learning more about the art of horology today from this home we call TRF. Thanks all for your kind words everyone. Great try Carl! Once again Rick, please enjoy the book to the fullest!

Funny thing is that I thought about it but said to myself that would be too cruel!
