Can't identify inherited Rolex

Hi all,
I just inherited my Grandfathers Rolex.
Since he wore it with a expanding gold band (because of arthritis) the places where the model number and serial number are stamped are worn down quite a bit. I can't make out the model number at all, but it looks like the serial number starts with 227. I am guessing that it is from the late 60s or so.
It has a Mica-like black face, smooth Bezel and is stamped 14K on the back on one of the lugs.
Can anyone help me identify the model of this watch?
I could not find anything like it in photos around the web.
Thanks!

It's a 14K date watch.

Propably a 1503 14k.

Easy to restore (not more then $500) and afterwards it'll last another 40 years

Enjoy it!!

Jack

.
You just need to read between the lugs at 12 o'clock , you'll have the ref. number directly ...

Very classic and given its a 14 k makes it even better.

You attach a black or brown leather strap of some quality a you have a fine watch !

Do not let the service change the dial or the hands. Keep them as they are !

Have a check and get a cleaning - oil service, along with the seals. So you can enjoy and protect it from accidental water damage.
