Sell or Hold

All,

I have a V series 3186 Explorer 2 polar dial, brand new still in plastic.I got it for a good price and my thinking was long term investment. I figured the 42mm will come out, they wont make the 40mm anymore and eventually people will start look for the older one.
Anyway I am finding I am not good at keeping watches I dont wear, should I keep it in the safe, or sell now?
Whats' it worth now? what could it be worth in the future?

Thanks in advance, I value the expert opinions on this forum.

I love the 16570. That being said, sell it and buy another watch you want to wear. If you don't want another watch sell it and put the money in S&P500. In 10 years time your shares will be worth more than the future value of the 16570. /My non-expert opinon.

Thanks, but that said the S&P likely has more risk than the watch investment!!

Sounds like you've learned that your first premise, long-term investment, is completely at odds with your urge to flip what you don't wear. That should tell you that watch speculation isn't for you.

Maybe buy a watch you enjoy wearing? And grow your money in ways that actually grow money.

X2. Just cannot understand why today that Rolex watches have come to be little more than thought of than just ££££££$$$$$$$$$.

Get a watch you can enjoy wearing now. Good luck on whatever you want to do.

While there are tons of white dial EXP II's out there, you don't really see them in LNIB condition. Maybe because of the lower price point they have been well loved and worn.

Just guessing, but I think $5,000 would be ALL the money and more likely mid to high $4's.. IMHO

I'm sure somebody would buy it quickly from the classified section on TRF. Many like myself, do not like the new 42mm model at all and would love a white EXP II

Sell it and either save or invest your money or find another watch you will truly enjoy wearing.

$$$

I dont really see the watches as just $$$, but I do take into account that I can buy something, wear it and enjoy for while then sell on generally at no loss. Agreed on this one, I did think $ because I got for a good price and I am one of these guys who does not like to be the one taking the plastic off, I like to leave that to others.
