I'm a little down at mouth this evening since I had to shoot one of the old horses this morning.

Hector was 23 and I had owned him more than half my life.

He was a grand old lad... He'd been a bit of a boy in his younger days but mellowed into an old gent. Because of his size he'd gone through his joints (I know how he felt!) and wasn't getting around so well. The weight had started to drop off him and this morning enough was enough.
