Any like straps vs. Bracelets on their Rolex's
I have seen a pic or two of some subs on NATO straps and other straps. I have a client who wears a YG President or it may be a daydate on a cordovan gator strap with a Rolex clasp. I have seen a datejust or two on straps as well. I would like to get a nice strap to change out on my Sub every once in a while and I am thinking of getting a vintage DJ on a strap as well. The DJ's bracelet is wore out and to have something different I think a black strap will look great. It appears that the Brits are big on straps instead of bracelets.
Your Thoughts and Pics? P.S. I have an Omega Planet Ocean on a 20mm thick padded strap with a deployment clasp. It's an aftermarket strap but is was not real expensive. Heck hardley anyone even notices the Omega compared to my Rolex's. |

I have a friend in Denmark who bought a YG DJ in Italy. He later bought an original Rolex leather strap for it, but with an ordinary buckle. Later he bought an 18 folding clasp (original Rolex clasp) for it (Daytona clasp like you see on the YG/WG Daytonas).
Price for the clasp on its own as a spare part: DKR. 25.000 That is about US $ 4500!!

Good lord, I think I'll roll with just a regular clasp. I wonder if I could get a genuine Rolex deployment clasp and affix it to a leather strap. Kind of that Bond look with a modern Submariner. Might be interesting. After seeing the gentelmans GMT on a strap, I thought it looked kinda good.

Why not buy a NATO strap for it? They come cheap and have some "history" justification to them:
Military Subs (with soldered lug pins!) had those. "James Bond wore it" (read more about the Bond Subs here: http://members.optushome.com.au/heliosz/jamesbond.html

I have seen the bond Sub with the NATO strap. Unfortunatley for me, I am in real estate and I think that the NATO is not dressy enough. I am half ass metrosexual. I have 3 colors of straps for my PO. So if I wear a company logo polo or golf shirt with a black belt and shoes I might wear the sub, or the PO with a black strap. If I wear Cordovan I might change the strap out to cordovan. Same with brown, however I have a vintage heir loom (Seiko 17j automatic that was my dad's from 1978 that I recently had restored, they re-plated the case, re-worked the crystal and serviced the 17j movement, this thing is full manual and even on my watch winder it dies eventually) that I wear occasionally.
I have 105 years of heirloom timepieces. My favorite is my grand dads 1941 Hamilton Stewart tank. It is mint, on a croc strap but is it SOOOOOO small for my 7.75" wrists it looks like a band aid. |

I like what you've done with your date just. Did the strap come with the deployant clasp? I like the white Roman numeral dial. Would you mind telling me where I could source an OEM dial just like yours? Thanks |
