torn between 2 amazing watches

hey guys,

needs some expert advices here.

at current, i have the chance of purchasing either one of panerai's 2 SE models, the 232 and 339. and I simply couldn't make up my mind. both are pre-owned and are of reasonable prices.

can anyone help me please?

Personally if I was in your position, i would go for the 232.

The 232 is out of production, beautiful vintage look, gold hands, base and very cool.

I think for the 339, you are paying too much for the "8 Giorni Brevetato" logo which only looked cool on the 203 or Egiziano.

I would gor 232.

Make sure whichever you get, check to make sure it is real and not fake. Or have Panerai check and give you in writing.

Were you able to try both on your wrist and see which one sings to you more? If it is up to me, I would go for the 339 but that is me.. it looks more unique fits my eyes better!

Both are indeed very nice pieces.... good dilemma to have!

Best,

Fred

here's my position;

the seller is someone i know and have bought from before and is quite reputable..so no worries abt being fake

as for the watch:

i like both..but i would only get one..the only thing i dont like about both is that they both have solid caseback

232:
pros
- half the price of 339
- looks much more elegant with the chrome finish
- don't have to worry about case discoloration

cons
-its basically a 6 year old watch selling at a premium due to being SE
-somehow looks similar to other normal pams..i own a 359 and am afraid that it will look similar somehow

339
pros
- looks very nice and different from other models
- there's not a lot of pieces out there ( i wonder if its still in production)
- in house movmt, 8 days power rsv
- technically, less than 2 yrs old

cons
- price ( i still think paying above 10k for a pam, whether new or used is too much )
- case discoloration issues
- resale value ( is it already been steady or will there still be some up or down flux)

the 232 is priced at about 8400 +/- and 339 is at 15000

what do you guys think?

Both are very nice and interesting watches. My opinion is that the 232 is actually not that hard to come by. As for the 339, why don't you consider the 292. You will get a "black" Pam in your collection and a Radiomir at the same time. Best of luck on your hunt.

339 for me. Interesting and looks great both inside and out. Can't see myself paying all that dough for a watch with nothing interesting at all within.
232 is good looking though...just not 8k-9k good looking.

thats what i've been thinking..for that kinda dough, i can get an in-house automatic mvmt

only the composite case issue is still kinda bugging me tho..

I am with Drew AGAIN!!

I had a chance to pickup a 232 a couple years back and I went 190. At that time, I thought the 47mm may be too big for my wrist and I loved the JLC movement and how the 190 fit my wrist.

a couple years later, I was offered 339 at list and I took it. best decision ever..the composite makes the 47mm very comfortable...

the 232/249 just to me aint worth the premium..and actually..I am past the stage of paying premium for any piece..

many ristis will rave about the 232/249 history and all...but the 339 is the new and old of Panerai meshed in a perfect piece...

A few more things:
-the 339 may be the last of the composites...and don't you think if there are any issues Panerai will back the piece?
- the only rad with MM and probably last ever with MM
- there is only 1500 pieces out there

good luck...

and lastly...I will close with Drew related pix...lol

Thanks man..LOVE this strap...

339 for the 8-day. I'm a sucker for big PR manuals.

just wondering though, the 372 feels considerably a lot lighter than my previous 359, is it because of the manual mvmt and the plexiglass?
