16613 History

Hello, I'm trying to find some history regarding the 16613 in the lines of:

Which serial corresponds to what year.

In what year/serial was introduced the SEL?

In what year/serial was introduced the gold layer on the clasp?

I know the M serial feature the rolexrolexrolex engraving...

What other "upgrade"/changes were introduced in the life of the 16613 and in what years??

I'm looking forward to buy a pre loved bluesy, non ceramic, for daily use.

What are the "musts" or important things one should consider for around $6.5-$7k...

Are holes recomended on the lugs? Does this make a watch more expensive?

Thanks!!

The must: a nice model, serviced in a rolex ad, not overpolished. Other than that, all is question of tastes. The rolexrolex engraving is subtile.
Apart from the engraving, i think that it has not been modified: 3135 movement always. I do not know for the holes.

2000: Solid end link bracelet indroduced (SEL).
2003: Laser crown introduced.
2003: No holes case starting (late Y-series).

I believe they went to gold through clasp in 1999 or 2000.

A 1998 (Nov)
P 2000 (Jan)
K 2001 (Sep)
Y 2002 (Sep)
F 2003 (Sep)
D 2005 (Apr)
Z 2006 (May)
M 2007 (Aug)
V 2008 (Aug)

Whether you get lug holes or not is pretty much a matter of which looks best to you. Having lug holes makes it easier to go from bracelet to strap, however with a watch such as this I'd rather just wear it on the bracelet.

X2 The TT sub was first introduced in 1983 then it had the cal 3035 later models had the cal 3135 introduced 1988/9 and still a current movement.Since 1988 then the changes to the 16610/16613/16618 range have been minimal. The change from Tritium lume around 1998 to Luminover lume on dials, around 2004 Serial F/D on some models the Rolex Rolex Rolex On the Rehaut ring started plus the ones stated by above poster, but from 2001 Laser Etched Hologram was started in the Crystal. And regarding the serials all the codes can tell you is a rough estimation when the case was stamped and not always the exact year any watch was made .

I have a late A that was one of the first with SEL and gold through clasp, that is when that started. The price went from $5800 to $5900 when those two were added.

Thanks for the replis!!

I'm thinking that SEL and gold through clasp are important features. Although the clasp is avery vulnerable place for scuffs.....

What do you guys think?

The gold through clasp does not scratch much.
