Is Rolex as tight as a Sub? Basel 2012 releases kept secret!

I was just thinking....

Rolex has obviously been working on their new Basel designs for many months, if not years or more.... And not one genuine leak?

By way of comparison, Apple is also incredibly secretive, and yet they have
all kinds of leaks, phones left in coffee shops, specs for the iPad out weeks before the launch etc. they are now the biggest company in the world, and billions in market value are impacted by their new model releases.

Yet Rolex manages to keep such a tight ship that not even a hint how many new models, what kind of changes, nothing....

Anyway, hard not to admire them for it

The Rolex ship is so tight that it makes the CIA seem like like a rusty, leaky, tramp steamer.

Ha! You ever watch Men in Black?

As soon as someone at Rolex sees something they make em look in that flashy thing and send em on down the highway.

If this is the real one, I guess me an Jocke's source were reliable.
Now let's see if he also was right about a new Rolex Chrono model
From Thomas (TSW) in an earlier Tudor thread.
We'll see if the leak comes true

Apple outsources materials and components from asia......you can't control security as well in that kind of situation.

We need to sneak in a pair of those special sunglasses to one of our operatives!

That protects them from the memory zap

Leaks come from Apple due to A: Deliberate marketing to create a frenzy on their latest and greatest. B: As Apple make nothing of thier own it's one of the outsourcing factories employees letting the cat out of the bag.

Rolex though are almost self reliant so no pesky leaks from outward sources and i'd imagine that the ones in the know regarding new pieces are made to sign some sort of confidentiality clause or something similar.

Yeah, I thought same thing Steve, but Rolex still make nearly a millions watches a year, there have to be many many people involved.... But then again, apple has a MILLION iPads ready to ship to all their stores on the day of release. I suppose Rolex only needs to have several hundred...

Ps. Do you think we'll start seeing people lining up outside their Rolex AD's at midnight the night before release

I can just imagine a bunch of hardcore WIS's jostling for positions at the front of the queue with their sleeping bags

Of course, there was that leak about the new Explorer II a couple of years back in a video, I believe.

Clearly Rolex is good at keeping any leaks to an absolute minimum. In comparison however there are far more people who are actively seeking possible leaks in regards to upcoming iPhone models - there are more people out there in the world that Apple products will have relevance to.

As much as Rolex is a world-wide recognized brand (and we love it here) I’m sure that for the average Joey on the street finding secretive documentation on a forthcoming iPhone will be more newsworthy than an un-launched watch from a well-known brand.

This could be why you hear more about leaks with Apple than Rolex.
