Sunray Finish

So in addition to seeing a wonderful new Rolex today, I also learned that the fabulous effect of millions of radiating lines emanating from the center of the champagne dial on my DDII is called the Sunray Finish. What a wonderful day!!

Did you all know that Sunray was what Rolex called this effect? And, what do you think the chances are of Rolex offering me a Sky Dweller in YG Romans?

Yes I learned this today too. It is spectacular when done by Rolex. I was at the new AD in the Christiana Mall in Delaware today looking at a DJII with Serti Silver Sunray dial. Spectacular.

My champagne dial takes on a life of its own as the lighting conditions change. Never get tired of looking at it.

A quick Google search show lots of watch brands offer this as Sunray or Sundial. I'll bet no one approaches Rolex in execution.

I always thought it was called "Sun-burst", but maybe that's just a generic name for that style.

Sunray or Sunburst...aka "Soleil" if you want to get down with the Francais and really expand your horological lexicon. ;)

Right, this is a Sunburst Dial. Beautiful in picture, I would love to see one in the wild.

Chances will probably be lower than Tiger woods giving you his. Lol.

Look closely at a sunburst and you'll see it's all paint color. The 3D effect is an illusion. I loved one I saw for my wife until I noticed this.

I would think that when buying a YG DD II time reading isn't your #1 priority...
