Icon19 AD Discount on Rolex 18k YG Day Date 118238.. PLEASE HELP

Hi Guys - Fairly new to TRF and I really need your help.

Like many my Grail watch is the solid 18k DD 118238 President. I really want this watch now and as I intend to keep it for years to come I want a brand new one. Does anyone know the current UK retail price for this watch and what kind of AD discount should I be pushing for. I recently bought a GMTc from an AD in central London and I got a mere 5% discount. Do you think I can get a bigger discount on the Day date?

Thanks Guys

20% range for the DD, more if you're a good customer of the AD. I only know US MSRPs. Good luck, I love my President, and you will too!

Are US ADs still doing that extreme of discounting? It's been a while since I've walked in the door of one with the intent to buy, but with all the closures I wonder if some of these dealers are gun-shy about discounting.

I recently talked to a client of mine how bought a WG Day Date for his wife. The MSRP on the watch was $27,500. He picked up it up from an AD who lost their Rolex license so they were giving up to 40% off. He got it for $17,000 before taxes.

...He bought it three days prior to calling me and wanted to sell it. Because his wife said it was too heavy...but he couldn't return it. I verified the serial number and the DD was a 2002 model. I had this conversation with him a week ago. He was not happy at all. He called the store to talk to the manager and he told him what he found out about his DD...The manager was aware of who I was...and knew that I know how to read serial numbers. :) ... and admitted that they did have older models still in stock at 2012 prices.

Yes however since the watch was new this is the policy of most if not all Rolex AD's... The watch is 'NEW" in the eyes of Rolex ad it has not been sold.. Unfortunately in the case of your friend 40% off of today's prices was not such a good deal for a 10 year old Full gold watch...

That being said this is a very common practice though like it or not.

@hourseco. I have considered waiting until I visit New York next month to buy the watch there on in the airport. Just trying to work out where I can get it for the best price.

Thought the ADs could only charge new current price for a model still in production. With the text on the rehaut not being there in 02 i think is illegal. That said a dealer has all the right in the world to sell at M serial at today's prices. 40% off for a brand new watch isn't too bad IMO. Serials on precious metal watches can be many years off btw. It could've been assembled 3-4 years later.

118208: Yellow gold, domed bezel, Oyster bracelet, £17,930
118238: Yellow gold, fluted bezel, President bracelet,£19,020
118209: White gold, domed bezel, Oyster bracelet,£19,750
118239: White gold, domed bezel, President bracelet diamond dial,£22,650
118205: Everose gold, domed bezel, Oyster bracelet,£19,740
118235: Everose gold, fluted bezel, Oyster bracelet £19,770
118206: Platinum, domed bezel, President bracelet,£36,830.

Plus/minus £1000-3000 depending on bezel/bracelet/dial combo choosen.

I'd say your looking at at least 10-15% off with 20% + if you haggle hard.

Depends on your relationship. I could manage 35% to 40% for the gold models. If you are in UK you could negotiate well around 25% and then get additional 17% VAT refund if you have some relative abroad. If all this is too complicated, go for a grey dealer.
