SS 116520 Daytona & Leather - NO END LINKS - Pics?

Does anybody have pictures to share of a 116520 Stainless Steel Daytona and a leather strap WITHOUT END LINKS? It seems to be a common look for vintage chronographs, but seldom done on newer models. I'd very much like to try this alteration, but but don't want to buy a Daytona until I'm confident I like the look. I prefer leather to a bracelet and am not enamored with the combination of leather with end links. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Jerry

Hi Jerry,

I have never seen a picture of a SS Daytona on a leather strap, sorry.

And the ones in gold have those end links (I don't like them).

When you do some google, you can find some fakes with rubber straps; just for the look it might help....

I bought a Hirsh(sp?) strap with a curved end for mine but it ended up not fitting correctly. Now the strap is just sitting on my desk. Oh well.

I have no photo but a SS daytona would look cool on a Di Modell rally strap......then there always the Paul Newman look, put it on an Atilla cordovan bund strap......curmudgeon bling baby!

Found this pic in another thread. I like it. Wonder why others don't wear their Daytonas this way? Would love to see more pics, particularly a black SS Daytona with a brown leather strap.

I'm committed to minding the gap and will only wear a two piece strap in conjunction with Etur's end links.

However, I can certainly appreciate someone wanting just the opposite. Best of luck and show us what you come up with.

What Dan said.
I used to really find the strap end link look kind of odd.
Put my Datejust on a strap but the gap bugged me. Seemed incomplete.

Ordered end links from Etur and I'm a happy camper. So much so that I'm looking into a pair for my Speedy Pro that I currently wear with a strap. But now the gaps on that bug me.

Please post what you end up doing.

Will,
Your Daytona on rally strap is a striking combo!

Thanks for sharing, Will, appreciate it. I'm convinced that I prefer this look over end links, but let's keep the pictures coming if anyone else wears their Daytona this way. That said, like everything, it's a matter of taste and personal preference. It's pretty apparent that I'm in the minority with regard to end links.

Thanks Marc. Hopefully you can find one in Belgium. As I said in the PM, it's a Hirsch Rally (are they from Germany?). If you need help, please let me know.

So, Will, you've provided pics both with and without end links. Which look do you prefer? Are there any pitfalls you've encountered to wearing a Daytona without end links?

I eventually bit the bullet and got a Daytona, loving it with leather and without end links! It has such a retro look to it. I change out the straps every so often, so I'll follow up with more pics later.

With a racing or very sporty strap it doesn't need endlinks, more rugged and sporty that way.

rocco1109, I just recently purchased an 116520 SS BD, and wanted to know if the bezel needs to be removed in order to use a leather or NATO strap? Also, I'm not to fond on using the "modified end links." I think it looks better with out them.

The bezel does not have to be removed to put leather or a NATO on, just the end links. Remove the spring bars and the end links and bracelet will pop right off. Then simply add the strap!
