Planned Saint Maartin Purchase

Morning All,
First time poster here.
Please excuse this question if already posted. I currently own the Submariner in SS. By far the most durable watch I have ever owned. Have worn it constantly for the past 20 years and never a problem or defect. BTW, never use ZEP to clean your watch, faded the bezel to a nice blackish, gray. Should have known better.
Anyway, I am planning a trip to Saint Maartin, and would like to upgrade to a two tune # 16613, blue dial and bezel. Are the prices at Goldfingers jewelers worth the wait? or is Ebay a better source? I understand the pit falls of Ebay. Goldfingers will not or can not provide me with a price over the phone.
Any replies would be appreciated.
Thanks

Welcome to TRF!

There is nothing as nice as buying BNIB (Brand New In Box) from an AD, and I think it is very likely that you can get a 10 or even 15 % discount on the Sub Date 16613 since it is not as popular as the SS version and both the AD and Rolex earns more on TT (Two Tone) and YG (yellow gold) Rolex watches.

I wish you the best of luck!

Welcome to the forum. I was @ St Maarten/St Martin last November; prices were pretty good! I would suggest visting BOTH dealers in the island; as you know the island is 'owned' but 2 different nations, so you have a dealer on each side. Good luck!!

BTW, prices at 'french' side Cartier are the best I have seen ever!

Hello and welcome!

I'll be in St. Maarten in a couple of weeks! Can't wait to visit the ADs there! Will be in St. Thomas for a day as well.

Gerardo - how far are the two dealers from one another in St. Maarten?

15-20 minutes. What we did is take the boat to downtown, visit one AD, then a taxi to the french side, visit the other AD, Cartier and have lunch @ marina (funny, pay in euros on one side and us dollars on the other). Nice ride and, to me, one of the most beautiful landscapes @ caribbean!

Went there as part of a Cruise stop off and have gone back every year since. Just love it there, good food, good fishing and not over crowded in Oct. and Nov.
Your right about purchasing (NIB), there's nothing quite like it.

The 1st time I went to Sint Maarten was in 1984. Customs amounted to a guy in uniform waving his hand saying, "Welcome!" as you got off the plane. It was a very beautiful place. The Islanders were very friendly also. It was truly a paradise.

Now everyone goes there and it has gotten too built up. It's like that old song, "They paved Paradise and put in a Parking Lot."
