President YG bracelet for a Day Date 1810
I have the Day Date 1810 now for some weeks and it is on a black leather strap.
But (as you'll have been reading in my previous posts) I would like to buy a YG President bracelet. My wrist are kind of sweating in the summer and that is the main reason to get a President. I know . . . leather bracelets are not (that) expensive. Still if you want a nice looking croc, doesn't have to be an ABP, France, it still will cost some money. So : Summer time -> President Winter time -> back on a leather strap. Also than I have 2 different Day Dates ;-) Now my question : Would you buy a President with (visible) clasp or go for the hidden clasp ? Visible is correct with the age of the watch But I think the hidden looks better Any advice please . . . |

If you are able to source one, I would probably opt for the hidden clasp personally.

Both look very nice, I personally have the TT Jubilee with the non hidden clasp and really love it, however I must admit that the hidden one has something quite special and if I had the choice I'd probably look for it.

You need to be careful buying a used president bracelet by itself. If the bracelet is in good condition, separating it from the watch head greaty impacted the value of the watch head for the owner and as a result I have never heard of it happening. Usually stand alone president bracelets are so well worn they are usually just a step away from being scrap gold.
I would be VERY suspicious of a stand alone president bracelet in good condition at a reasonable price. With all the Day-Date watch heads in the market, their 18k gold bracelets long stretched out and removed, an original rolex president bracelet in good usable condition should command a premium in the market. Beware there are a lot of unscrupulous sellers willing to put an original clasp on an after market president bracelet and steal your money from you. I suggest you do a LOT of research on how to authenticate a president bracelet and or find someone who can reliably do it for you. Make sure you pay by credit card or PayPal and only buy from a seller in a country you can have legal recourse to. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING OUT OF RUSSIA, CHINA AND EASTERN EUROPE!

I might be in the minority here, but I love the folding buckle on the Day-Date. It creates a beautiful classic look, and is easily adjusted via the spring bar holes on the buckle.

Check with HQ Milton in San Francisco. Jacek can probably a nice bracelet for you and you'd know it was real and straight. (I'm sure that some of the
other trusted sellers on the sight could help you as well!). Beautiful watch! |
