Hi all, Old Rolexes - S/N supplied... Any ideas??
Allo hello all,
Have been told about this forum and have only just registered, so welcome to me, the newest member...!! (As a newbie, i couldn't find the 'newbie' side of things...) My brilliant watchmaker, Niel, told me to ask questions to the cyber world and see what eventuates, so here goes.... My mum bought me a stainless steel oyster perpetual back in 1975 from a shop in Hamilton, Bermuda, which is where she lived for a time.. She also had one herself, a ladies 18kt datejust oyster perp. Niel reckons that her watch has some very interesting marks on it and was very keen to see if anyone could provide some info.. He was under the impression that this watch could have been made for a special order, ie one of ten requested by the sultan of somewhere for his harem of 10, except that he broke up with one and that is how mum came by it.... So if anyone is in the know, we would appreciate any confirmation of its origin or hints on how to acquire this knowledge... Her model is 6517. Her S/N is 24443527. Mine is 1603, S/N 3375786. Be interested to know if manufacture ties in with date of purchase or if the Hamilton place had had it in theie stock for ages.... Much appreciated, anyone...!!! Cheers TB |
