Bond & Rolex

Bond is back wearing Rolex.......and he's a curmudgeon......I just picked up the paperback edition of the latest Bond book......007 Carte Blance by Jeffery Deaver.
On page 34:
"Onto his wrist he slipped his steel Rolex Oyster Perpetual, the 34mm model, date window its only complication; Bond did not need to know the phases of the moon or the exact moment of high tide at Southhampton. And he suspected very few people did."

Bah humbug, long live Bond.

Bond wearing a boysize Rolex?

As much as I am for 007 wearing Rolex but that choice is rather pathetic and I can see its roots in the overhyped Explorer "discovery".

Deaver should do better with his research ;)

Bond is back to being the model of English gentleman's understated elegance in his selection of a wrist watch.

So, is the point that James Bond is so cool that he can wear a ladies watch and get away with it?

To all those questioning would James bond really wear a 34mm oyster perpetual...
The answer can't get much closer to this.

So many "size queens" in here.....I wonder if the stereotype is really true about them

As for a clandestine intelligence operative wearing a Rugged, accurate and reliable low key watch that would blend in to any situation and attire.....DUH!

A 34mm Rolex for a gentleman is far from being "low key".

Everyone with a reasonable watch taste would stare on it and think: WTF

I dont understand.

Bond should wear a 5512 or 5513. Maybe 14060M for the sake of Modern Era.
or does Bond drive a 1 series BMW now? Maybe a Lexus Hybrid?

Well anyway a 34mm Rolex is better than a Seiko Calculator watch

I actually just saw someone wearing a calculator watch a couple weeks ago...SHOCKED, I was shocked.... It was probably a valuable collectible...I don't know anyone who still has one now...

I guess a lot of people don't know that the Bond in the books is quite different than the Bond in the movies when it comes to maintaining appearances and product placement....

And the PCLs, Bond thought...what were these
thinking.....too noticeable. He would go to Burlington Arcade as soon as he returned to London and pick up a vintage 1016."

he must have slipped the 34 mm one on his wrist being totally smashed and taking the current bond girl's watch in the dark hotel room

and she wakes up seeing the smurf sitting peacefully on the dresser, texts him saying "where's my watch" and he texts back "I was pretending to be classy, that gold should adjust to your wrist, google. it"

I would be rather peeved as well. Glad to hear he is taking the time between disarming the nuclear bomb and saving the world from corruption to address this issue..

"After Bond showered......very hot, using unscented soap....rinsing off under very cold water....he shaved.
Using a heavy, double bladed safety razor, its handle of light buffalo horn.
He glanced at his 34mm stainless steel datejust and thought of the Spectre agent who made light of its size, Bond's body parts size, etc. The Spectre agent's body parts were found floating in the Danube, somewhere between Buda and Pest."

Clearly Bond is going into deep disguise, as a girl! Wearing a mini Sub.
