Some Help on this 17653 Nipple GMT
I have been trying to figure out if this combination existed, but haven't found anything.
First off. I haven't ever seen an all brown insert on a two tone, I thought they only were found on the all Gold 16753's. The Serial puts it at 1969/1970 and the bracelet is 1970 but I haven't seen a folded link two tone bracelet before Just curious if you guys have seen this combination before. Thanks! |

Most of the 2tone "root beer" combinations I've seen have been with jubilee bracelets. The folded "staple" oyster bracelet is aged correctly vintage bracelet on a vintage watch. The oyster bracelets that I have seen are always from the 1980s and early 1990s so they have an update regular bracelet style (non-folded/staple)
Sun can eat up the color of the bezel insert to make it look all brown, however, I've never done right to remember how to identify the authentic insert bezels. |

I think Rolex was a lot more flexible back in those days and if a customer wanted a 1675/3 with a brown insert they would plop it in. I've not seen the brown insert on a TT in any Rolex literature but again, it could have been a customer request. I have seen a couple of older TT's with all brown insert for sale at Capetown Jeweler's site. Hope this helps

A mentioned above that is NOT a quickset 16753 with that serial number sequence. It should be a 1675/3. They mostly came with TT 14k/SS jubilee bracelets. The solid brown insert is not IMHO correct under any circumstances. You can always get a correct rootbeer insert and change it out of you like the watch.

I'm no expert, but I generally have a good eye for things.
If the watch, insert and bracelet were married it looks like it was done at the start of the watches life. I don't normally like 2tone or gold, but this is very pretty! |

The watch itself has razor sharp case edges and I am very inclined to believe that the insert is original to the watch and was probably requested by the original purchaser.
