How hard is it to source new bracelet/case for Daytona?
Hi All,
This has been bugging me for a while, but since my Dad got the Gold Daytona I have been lusting after it. I have the beautiful two tone Daytona w/slate dial. I know this is going to sound absolutely ridiculous, but I have an idea of converting my watch to a 18kt Gold Daytona. The crown, pushers, bezel, dial/hands are already gold so it looks like I would just need a gold case, caseback and gold bracelet. I am just toying with the idea for now, but who knows... it could be serious if the numbers make sense to me. I know... big bucks indeed. BUT I could offset it a bit by selling my SS case ( must be a market for that) and my two tone bracelet. I cant go to Rolex directly, so where else can I look to get these parts? I can see finding a bracelt fairly easy as perhaps a customer wanted a strap and converted etc. but a gold case might be the hard part. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I know it may cost a pretty penny, but I am sure it would be less than buying a new all gold watch! Thanks in advance. |

It will cost you more than it will cost to find a nice pre loved
model and also you will just be creating a Franken Watch. There is only one person who I could even think of that may be able to help.. PM incoming

I might be way off base here, but might it be easier to sell/trade yours, buy a gold Daytona and find a slate dial?
(Not sure what the economics of that would be, just seems easier) |

Thanks for the input. Again I am just toying with the idea, because I never plan on selling this watch ever.
If it proves to be too expensive I will just try and save up for a different model :) Problem is I have too many watches on that list. |

it's probably cheaper to buy a gold daytona.

Why would you not sell the watch to get something is sounds like you really want more? Just curious.

Yes much better to sell and buy the gold, my guess is the gold bracelet would be $20k+ alone from Rolex
