Incoming !!

57.5 mm of pure rose gold deliciousness. It's only going to take about 8 months to get made, but never too soon to start getting excited.

Toodles for now.

This may well be my last watch purchase. I am going to need the 8 months build time to swing the fundage.. Hint: it wasn't the one I had planned to pursue, mostly because I thought it would be too outrageous to even consider. Then that devil-in pinstripes buddy of mine made me an offer so good I couldn't say no.

I just hope I don't need to sell my first-born. Come to think of it, what's the going rate for a 14 y/o who needs new contacts ? I'll throw in the X-box absolutely free ! (just pay separate handling)

Does the 14 y/o come with boxes and papers?

Enjoy it knowing you'll be one of only 250!

I'd offer a swap for a 16 YO, but that would be movement in the wrong direction for me....

So this is an 8 month tease thread? That will put some of the usual suspects around here to shame

There is still a chance that it won't come through. My AD buddy reserved one, but he is concerned that he may not actually get the allocation. Such is the state of the US Zenith market.

The titanium version was totally sold out at SIHH. Dealers who merely went to Basel never had a chance.

I always said that he had far too much disposable income and I gave up waiting for those spare Zeniths he promised to send me a few years back.

I'm still a little intrigued and confused by the one-in-75 edition though.

Perhaps something different.

They have enough parts to make 250 total pieces, 175 are titanium, and 75 are RG. There is almost zero possibilty that they will ever produce this movement again, unless the demand is so overwhelming that it become financially feasible to redevelop the tooling.

Forget it... I figured it out! Very cool even if it is the same size as a hockey puck!

"Baselworld 2012 is right around the corner and after a taking last week off, Team Perpetuelle is gearing up to get the early sneak peaks a-going for you.  Let’s start it off with a smashing cool Pilot’s watch from Zenith, the Zenith Pilot Montre d’Aeronef Type 20, a limited edition (250) military tribute piece that I believe actually traces back to an aviation dashboard clock (not a Pilot’s watch!).  Everything about this watch screams cool, from its thick hands and dial numbers to the huge rounded-onion style crown, and yes even the 57.5mm case size.  Yes, that’s right, the grade 5 titanium case is a whopping 57.5mm in diameter — the reason being that it is built around the Zenith Caliber 5011, a manual-wind movement originally designed for pocket watches and deck chronometer clocks (circa 1960).  While I think the overall trend is towards smaller watches, this size does not bother me in the least because it makes for a perfect military-style Pilot’s watch (historically, they had to be very big and very legible).  Definitely a cool piece from Zenith, and the best part is that their more mainstream production pieces are just as good — so stay tuned in!

Zenith Montre d’Aeronef Type 20 Pilot’s Watch

Limited Edition 250 pieces

57.5mm titanium case, manual-wind Zenith Caliber 5011 (pocketwatch caliber, 50mm diameter, 48+ hrs power reserve, COSC cert.), brown leather strap with titanium pin buckle"

Sorry Dave, but I can assure you this piece is not even built yet. The dealer says December at the earliest.

I copied that from a Basel report from 2012... Didn't write it. Oh the wait... But I understand your pain. I waited over a year for Panerai to make the 386 and in the end, they still haven't so I hope yours gets made.
