Rehaut engraving

Sorry if this should be common knowledge, but should the rehaut engraving be spaced out in such away that each letter is exactly in the middle of each second marker?

ROLEX 10 times, + the crown at 12, + 8 digit s/n : 59 characters.

With some spacing around the s/n, we can imagine one letter per second marker.

Thanks for the lesson.

BTW my Crown at 12 lines up perfectly. I've read others 'comment' that theirs was slightly off-center. Not mine, it is exact.

Yep, it's X on the numerals 1-5 and R on 7-11.

What about serial numbers? Does each number line up at a second marker?

Many don't quite line up at the coronet at 12 o'clock but many do.

My explorer didn't line up but my GMT is bang on.

Slight tolerances either way.

All of mine appear to line up, including the serial number.

With the "old" style s/n it surely lines up :

ROLEX x 5 + crown + 7 chars S/N + 2 spaces = 60 characters for 60 seconds

With random s/n it couldn't line up correctly at 6 .
