Quick question for GMT owners
I've seen the great tutorials from Jocke and others on swapping bezels and I'm curious: How many do-it-yourselfers are out there?
Just got a black bezel for my 1675 and wondering whether I should go for it. Cheers. ... Deldog |

Took all the bezel assembly off cos it wasn't turning - thought I'd give it a good clean up and replace it, but then like a wally for reasons only known to myself and I still don't know what they were, pushed the insert out of the bezel...do you think I could get it back in. Ripped my fingers apart trying and eventually snapped the insert - NOOOOO!! Luckily it was a service replacement from 2008. After all that I couldn't even get the bezel to locate back properly on the case, hence my trip to the quick service counter at the RSC Kent. Took the technician about 2 minutes to put the insert in and put the bezel back on - think he'd done 1 or 2 before. Think they're alot easier to do on a modern Rolex. |

I've done it on my 16760. Took 5 minutes. Was a little tight going in but managed to do it with no damage. Would do it again. If you feel uncomfortable about it buy a knock off from eBay and practice. Place tape between the tool you are using so you don't scratch anything and use a thin cloth on the table you use as leverage to pop it back in.

I ve got one I struggled to get in and now I can't get it out. My GMT will not see a Pepsi insert again until I can get it to a watchmaker. Some you can swap easily and some are a difficult.

I tried it myself, at first it was hard but you get the hang of it. I used Jocke's tutorial and the table trick.

I was swapping bracelets/straps the other day and a spring bar shot away from me, into the sink and down the drain. Had to do some light emergency plumbing to recover it. Doh! If I go for it, I'll be sure to take pics and share. Thanks again! |

Sounds nuts, even to me during lucid moments, but I've wondered about a Pepsi for my GMTIIC.
Only "wondered"...so far. |
