Boston trip
I will be in Boston for a few days and was thinking of stopping by some Rolex ADs. Any recommendations and/or good experiences with anyone in particular? Thanks for any input.

Can't help with AD's, but If you are a baseball fan, try and get to Fenway Park. They are not back in town until next Monday unfortunatly.....

We have a few AD's but if you like vintage get over to the jewlers building a few shops there have some really great pieces!
Ross-Simons is downtown in the Prudential Mall, there is a Tourneau in Copley place, they aren't an AD in MA but they have everything else and some used Rolex, Long's Jewlers also downtown. Are you only going to in the city? There are other places in the burbs as well.

Ross Simons in the Prudential shops has a huge selection of Rolex, though mostly the dressier models and not as many sports models, still worth a look. Last I was there they had a ton of Daytonas.

There are several AD's as noted. Some better than others and none that I would really consider buying from.
I normally make the trip to tax free Portsmouth NH to Springers. If you have some time its an hour drive and a nice place to have lunch and see a great small New England town. In Boston head over to European Watch company 232 Newbury Street. Not cheap but they have a TON of high end watches to gawk at.

Lux Bond and Green on Boylston, they carry Patek also. European Watch on Newbury but they are not AD. Ross Simon in Prudential. Longs in the burbs but they will give you zero discount.

I like the folks at Springers, they treat me very well. I've purchased a few with them so they take good care of me. Not sure how they rate as far as discounts. My guess is that on steel sports models they would hold to MSRP and discount other models as is typical with any AD.

If you go to Fenway Park be sure not to call it a 'stadium', and remember they missed the playoffs last year with a monumental collapse, and are off to a rousing 4-10 start.

Yeah, that's nuts!! I better be careful, it's hard to comment further without violating the TOS
As soon as they are released and the hoopla dies down, I'll be weekending in Montreal to, amongst other things, obtain a Pelagos and Black Bay!!

I'm not a huge baseball fan though I did enjoy a game last year at Fenway. Nice history there though it was overall much smaller than I was expecting. I guess I am used to the newer layouts like at PNC park in Pitt and Busch stadium in St. Louis

Me and some buddies were on the way to Fenway yesterday(to see the Sox get slapped around by Yankees, again). We found out the game was a wash out while on the ferry to New London. As we were well on our way we made a stop at Foxwoods casino in Ct. Played some Hold em(won a little), stopped at the Rolex Boutique there to eyeball my next purchase and had a good time at buffet and drinking. Got some rooms and headed back today.
Didnt get to see the Bobby Valentines Day Massacre continue yesterday, but will be up there for the makeup game. Go Yankees!!! _________________________________ XLVI Super Bowl Champs NY Giants |

Funny az. My next Job I have in the army I will have a Yankees fan working for me. He already reminded me of this past weekend.
Heading back to visit in July. Got to get some good eats! Rich

I bought my SubC from Lux Bond and Green, and had a great buying experience. Long's was OK, but offered no discount.

Lux Bond & Green. I had a great buying experience 2 years ago. Great discount on a stainless datejust. I live in Maine. Shipping to my home state was no problem. I went to Springers in Portland where I live, I asked for a discount and was laughed out of the store. I went to their Portsmouth store and was treated even worse. The sad part is I know the owner of all three of Springer's stores, there is a tiny store in Bath, Maine about 35 minutes north of Portland. He was not available at the time I had cash burning a hole in my pocket. His name is Richard but he goes by Big Rich. He is very reasonable to deal with unlike his robot sales staff. Personally I think Springer's sucks. I will go back to LBG for my next Rolex. I went in during a snowstorm, dressed like I had no business being in there but to waste their time. And I was treated like I was a regular customer.

I should have taken pictures. Had a $50K Patek as well as several $20K+ AP's on my wrist today. Maybe some point in my life I will move in this direction. I did try a DSSD on and thought it may be a little tall for my wrist. I may try to find a SD at some point. May look at a red sub tomorrow!

Paul Duggan is also worth visiting
It may be too late, but Paul Duggan is also worth a visit. He is roughly a two-mile walk from the Prudential Center through the Public Garden and Boston Common. He is at 333 Washington Street on the third floor. He has a good selection of used Rolex and Pateks. (website is www.pduggan.com)
I am not affiliated with Paul in any way, just a satisfied customer. Sean |

A little off topic but does anyone have experience with Shreve Crump and Low with non Rolex watches? I'm interested in purchasing a JLC from them. Are their staff knowledgable and do they offer discounts? Any help is greatly appreciated. THANKS

What surprised me about their selection is that they carry some used watches as well. The watch I am most interested in is an 1815 chronograph in white gold. In my interaction with them, I am confident they will discount off the list price. I can't say what they will do for new watches but I would guess there is some flexibility. They also had some nice used Pateks (no sports models in stock at the time). I don't think they had any used Rolex but I can't say for certain. For others visiting Boston, they are located at 440 Boylston Street which is by the intersection of Berkeley and Boylston. They are definitely less than a mile from the Prudential Center and would make a great intermediate stop between the watch places in Prudential/Copley and Paul Duggan. Sean |
