Hi,

Just got my first SS Sub Date and a DateJust for my wife. I don't think either of us ever looked to see the time as much as we do now.

Say, a question on the Sub bezel - the little triangle at the top doesn't line up exactly with the 12 oclock triangle when "clicked" - it's got to be between clicks if this makes sense to line up perfectly. I assume this is by design (some of the pics in the forums I've seen suggest this) but just wanted to see if this was the case.

Welcome! and congrats on the new pieces!!

What your describing occurs with the Sub(and sometimes with the GMT 16710). Your watch has a ratching bezel. Fitting of the bezel insert sometimes can be a 1/2 click off. It can be refitted if you desire, but not something to be concerned about.
If you do refit, best to take to a good watchmaker, it's easy to scratch something unless you know what you're doing.

Mike - thanks for the info and quick reply. Now to find a way to fight my inner conflict of "it can be fixed" vice "it's nothing to be concerned out."

Any idea what getting the bezel refit might cost? The watch has already eaten into my mountain bike purchase fund.

Welcome to TRF.

You two have a great pair of classics..

As Mike says, having it perfectly aligned is of no practical value since bezel use is seldom a precision action. (and truthfully, absolutely nobody else will ever notice)

Still, I'm anal enough to like mine as close as practical....If you have the nerve, there are some good tutorials on taking the insert out and resetting it...

However, I'll bet your local watchmaker can take care of it in a matter of minutes..

Tools - Love your watch. I'm such a newbie that I have not seen a Sub w/o the cyclops. And I really like the limited descriptive text.

Welcome to TRF!

As Mike stated, it is quite normal (but still annoying IMHO, being a perfectionist) that the bezel triangle does not line up with the dial triangle following the natural ratcheting of the bezel.

Anyway, I have had the very same "problem" with ALL the SS Sub Date and the (now) 3 SD's I have had.

I do like you do: Just set it "between two clicks".
