Opinions needed... Sea Dweller vs Deep Sea
I had my sights narrowed down on either a 14060M or a Sea Dweller recently, but after trying on a 14060M while I was down in cancun (Ultra Jewels, 5Th ave) a few weeks ago, I felt it was too small... (I'm 6 foot 3, 7" wrist)
So now I'm on the fence between a Sea Dweller and a Deep Sea. This watch would be my one and only for a few years and really want to make the right decision. I have yet to try on either, but feel both would have presence on my wrist. Any thoughts? If it helps, I typically dress business casual for work. Does anyone out there have both and can make a recommendation? As always, thanks in advance :) |

I really like my DSSD - it's a hulk.
However, for an every day driver (I have a suit and tie job) thinner sport models such as the Suc, Sub-C and, of course, the iconic 14060M have their deserved place. Allow me to reiterate, I really like my DSSD but it does not fit well under a French cuff. It's still THE Rolex diver, IMHO.

The DSSD has really surprised me. I actually bought it with the expectation that it would be a catch-and-release. However, it has now become my daily-wearer. It is a remarkably special watch and has so much great technology that it never ceases to amaze and amuse me. If you can pull it off and it suits your lifestyle (and style of dress)...go with the DSSD.

I am planning to get a DSSD. Like you, I am 6' 3" with large wrists and I don't typically wear suits. Even when I wear long sleeve, I tend to roll up my sleeves. From the pictures I have seen folks post, seems people wear it with cuffs anyway, but I imagine it is cumbersome. How much have you tried it on?

Have both. Go for the DSSD you won't look back. Awesome watch and upgrades especially bracelet I feel make it the better of the two watches .

Sea Dweller would be my choice.
The Deep Sea is to thick for my liking.

DSSD for me....As has been said if you feel it works on your wrist then there is no way past it being the one. The only SS Rolex which currently competes with it is the new exp 42 in terms of my collection.

With that said, the DSSD could be the right size for your wrist but it's very thick and some have an issue with this. If you don't need a diver I would go for the new Explorer II, and therefore you have a choice of black or white dial as well. Good luck! |

I'd suggest you at least try on a Sub C, it wears noticeably larger than the no date Sub, and doesn't have the fairly significant height/thickness of the Deepsea, while possessing most of its virtues.

Don't get the DSSD. I prefer that it remains more exclusive.

additionally if SD is a bit too small on your wrist, try SubC, its case is much larger than SD but a bit smaller than Deepsea

Interesting comments so far... Almost a split. Something that is pulling me towards the DSSD is the bracelet..I've read a lot of reviews on how much of a step forward it is compared to the Dweller, however I feel the Dweller's size is more "real world" compared to the DSSD.

SD for me ...
but it's very close to the 14060 in size. The DSSD is a giant for me. Too big, too thick, too heavy.

I love my DSSD. I would recommend that you do a search for the DSSD owners on here. I am 5'7" with smaller wrists and had one link removed and if feels/fits wonderfully. MANY of the people here who have a dislike for the DSSD(same people over n over n over) have never worn the DSSD for some time or complain of its asthetics(diamterer and thickness.) The larger diameter of the DSSD gives it a very bold look. The thickness does not bother me whatsoever. I contemplated the Sub, however EVERYBODY has one, yet it is also a great watch. I don't wear a suit and tie often, however their are many people on here who do. If it was between the Seadweller and the DSSD I wouldn't think even look any further than the DSSD. You'll figure it out!!

I find it remarkable that almost all DSSD wrist pics are full-frontal from the top.
That angle pleases the DSSD, but wait until you see it from the side and the height is visible.. |
