I sometimes wonder if there's a Rolex spy on our forum!!

Hey guys,

Do any of you think there could possibly be someone from Rolex spying on our forum?

Would be kinda interesting if someone were on all the time reading our posts and the enthusiasm that prevails on this board!!

Some of us might even wind up with the occasional free Rolex from Geneva!!

Dream on... Nice thought though. On that premise, maybe I should join a McLaren forum ...

Free Rolex? I would settle for an up to date manual with my new $6000 GMT IILV.

Most publicity savvy corporations do have people staffed to scour newspapers and websites for the word on the street. So, I would not doubt that they have someone peruse this website on a regular basis. Possibly, drop nuggets of information on occasion.

Board operators should be able to tell by tracing IP address usage.

Any from the exact area of Rolex HQ?

One of AD's says that Rolex monitors watch forums. He also asked me to please never even HINT at the name of his establishment. From what he tells me, Rolex is likely to give him heat about being mentioned on a Rolex forum even if I give him a good reference...ESPECIALLY if I brag about a particularly good deal.

If this is true, and I'm inclined to believe this guy, then Rolex USA has a very strange business model!

Anybody else have a similar story? If so, any idea WHY??!?

True. My AD has asked that I never publicly say the name of the AD here. They do not want Rolex to know of thier discounts.

I only give the name of the AD to others here via PM.

I know of several retail-based companies that employ people to follow unofficial forums that involve their business / products. It is common sense to do so and a free market assessment tool. Having said that, not sure if Rolex is / would, but I would do so in their shoes.

Anyway, just my thoughts.

Seems Rolex is pretty serious about price control/ uniformimty. But if they're going for marketing research the effect there seems negligable. NOW: HOW did I know there'd be a reference to spies in sheeps' clothing???????
