Icon20 New Guy Questions

First post on the TRF!

I have been a Rolex and Panerai guy for a while and I am new to AP. The forum has already answered many of my "new guy" questions that I have been wondering about - Thanks for providing such a great AP resource.

I'm at a bit of a disadvantage as I don't have a AD near by, so I have a couple of basics. I ran into an AP 57th Street edition while traveling on business and I can't get the brand off my brain.

So I'm already rambling with my first post, so I'll stick to what's top of mind.

Hoping some forum members can set me straight with regards to buying through AD or grey market.

AP warranty. It's a 2 year warranty with a 3rd year if registered online with AP, correct?

Does the warranty transfer? Or are you on your own when going grey market?

Thanks in advance!

Gummy

Hi Gummy,

The 57th is one of my favorite ROO's (look at on of my threads posted about it)
The 57th is a Boutique only watch and the Boutiques are not known for discounts, I'd recommend you pm one of the trusted sellers here on TRF for a quote.

About the warranty.. AP would honor the warranty even if it has another name on it,
But it has to have a AD's stamp and date of purchase to be valid.
Third year is covered if you send your watch in for a WR service before the second year.

Feel free to PM me if you have more questions.

Best regards,

Thomas

As Thomas said, make sure the warranty book is dated an stamped when buying non-AD. If it's within the 2yr warranty period (and hasn't already been sent in) you can register for the 3rd yr online. AP will send you a sticker to be put in your service book. You then have to send your watch to AP to validate and stamp the 3rd year. I currently have two APs at APCS for 3rd yr warranty. I like this method (although it pains me to be without them) because AP disassembles the case, cleans everything, and tests for water resistance before sending it back.
