Subdials on 116520
Hi to all you Daytona owners out there! I was wondering if any of you that have a black faced watch have noticed the subdials look a bit browned or slightly, very slightly gold tinged. Mine is just under a year old and I've noticed this in most lighting conditions, but when I shine a light on it, it appears a nice silver.
I have also seen this on some pictures in the FS section, but am curious if it's just my eyes playing tricks on me or if there are others out there who have noticed this as well. Thanks! -Neil |

I thought that they were gold on the black dial Daytona.

Hi Tools, I believe you are correct. The markers, hands, and subdials should all be white gold, so I guess a more direct question would be if anyone has noticed their white gold slightly turning a tad bit brown/yellow, or at least a different silvery color than the steel of the rest of the watch. Let me know if you see a difference!

Hey George, here are two photos I found; my camera here is just terrible.
Sometimes it seems to match the SS of the watch quite well, but other times the subdials appear just as the ones shown above. Have any of you noticed this before? |

Indeed the circles around the subdials having a nice piece of lightfraction but nothin unsual with your ,in case of strong sunlight mine has a kind of mother of pearl hue
But as i old i s just the trick of lite , i guess the maroni/patrizzi effect won t happen any more in Daytona s history Best George Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

Hi George, as I was looking into the gold hue on the subdials, the words "Patrizzi Effect" kept showing up. Could you explain to me what this actually means in terms of the Daytona dial? Thanks!

Cool, thanks Al1988. I'm definitely going to have to look more up on this; I've learned more about Rolex in my last two months on this forum than I have in 10 years!
