Can someone recommend someone other the ROLEX to service Tudor?
As some may know, I picked up a 1998 pre-Tiger Tudor oysterdate Chrono.
I do not want to send it to Rolex because it might have a aftermarket crystal and possibly some non rolex parts and I heard that they will refuse to work on it if it has non rolex parts in it. I do not know the hhistory of the watch as they guy I bought it from did not have it for too long. SO far I called a guy from http://www.usawatchservice.com/index.html I belive his name was harris, has anyone dealt with them? He qouted me $420 w/polish for overhaul and all parts and $350 w/o polishing with 4-6 weeks turn around time. I also called a AD by me with a watchmaker on site (Hartgers) and they told me to bring it in but most likely will have to go to Rolex USA. It has a Valjoux 7750 movement and it is like minutes slow (maybee 2 min a day). How much would Rolex chage for this movement and watch, if it checks out all original and they can work on it? Can I send just the head to rolex , or will they force me to buy a band if I just send the head without the band? I have yet to have any of my watches serviced as I just got into this watch thing a few years ago. Thanks!! |

Send TRF member "Rikki" a PM, solid reputation as a quality watch tech, located in Florida
You can send RSC just the head, I understand that only Dallas does Tudor work. I'm sure the prices are very close to Rolex service, even though we are dealing with a Valjoux 7750, I bet they don't discount much for other movements. I'm sure if there are a few aftermarket parts like the crystal; RSC would replace them and not refuse to work on the watch unless it was really mostly after-market. |

you could send a cal 7750 base chrono to almost any competent watchmaker. if its a keeper, rsc paperwork helps and they won't make you buy a band. they don't care anymore. good luck

Try Central Watch if you are close to the city.

Haris is solid and does great work! I also have a Tudor oyster date chrono and will be sending it to him in the next year for overhaul!

I would rather send it to a local guy give him the biz and save some cash but hearing that no one can get Rolex parts has me second guessing ! |

I would think that you could find a bunch of independent watch guys who can do your work in your area. However, if you can't, you might give Manny Chamosa a call in Dallas. He works on Rolex almost exclusively, but he may consider Tudor to be the same thing. He's very well respected and recently did my Sub.
