Stuck bezel

So the bezel on my submariner is showing wear. I bought a new one and have tried to pry the bezel off to replace it with no success. I have read what to do and watched several videos but they are all the same. I live in North Dakota and there is no one that works on Rolex here so I am on my own. Anyone else have this problem? The dang thing turns great and still functions well but won't come loose. Can anyone help me out?

Its unusual for a bezel to wear on a sub do you mean the insert??, below is a simple tutorial on how to remove it just click on the Jocke link..

Try different position to push out the insert or put it in hot water first.

It doesn't "pop off" like everyone says. It won't come and it is frustrating.

Oh dear... It's one of those North Dakota bezels.

If you were closer I'd come over for a shindig and fix it for Y'all.

How's my accent Pete?

Yeah, not much out here but it is the only place in the country with good jobs available. If I didn't move out here for work I definately would not be on a Rolex forum LOL!

when you say pop you mean the entire bezel and insert, right...

You aren't trying to remove the bezel insert without the bezel are you ??

Of course not. I am trying to remove the bezel and insert, then replace the insert. Does anything work better than a knife? This watch is new. Less than a year old.

Is this a ceramic Sub by any chance?? As in a 116610...

If it is, stop what you are doing right now.

Any watchmaker will have a proper bezel removing tool. Save yourself some potential heartache and boogie on over.

If you ever get down to Rapid City, SD they have a wonderful place that works on Rolex. It is called The Clock Shop. They have been in business for 24 yrs and are wonderful folks. Ask for Jason. Tell him Brock and Mike sent you. They are quite affordable and offer a military discount.

sometimes the insert is difficult to pop out, so I use a small knife blade and insert it between the insert and the bezel (from the back side after removal from the case), and then give it a small twist/pry, and the insert should start to loosen.

I took it to a watch maker today. He was to scared to work on it so I have to pick it back up tomorrow. Since I have no plans to leave the state soon I am at an impasse. Oh well. I will just have to wear it with a scratched insert. I never should have bought something this nice when I knew no one could work on it. I regret having it now. Anyone want a sub real cheap? It does me no good in this tiny Podunk sh- state.

here is a pic of whats under neath, be sure to get enough penetration (before you pry) with knife parallel to flats.

Here is a pic of SD with the bezel off, but case is shaped the same.

tape off the lug.

avoid trying to pop it near the rounded sections or you can get caught under the lip ... this wouldn't work as you can see the overhang the blade could get caught under.
