Good deed for the day

Met with a business associate yesterday, and noticed he was wearing a GMT. I, being a WIS and knowing I wasn't going to offend by mentioning it said nice Rolex!
He then went on to tell me his dad bought it in the 70's and he inherited it from his dad in the 80's when he passed on. He'd been wearing it solidly for 20-something years with one service. It was really in need of a bath and he mentioned he didn't know where to take it for a service as the last guy had charged a bomb and stuffed up the job twice.
So I did what any of us would do; I gave him the name and number of the watchmaker I use.

May it live another 30 something years!

Nice!

He's really going to appreciate your advise when he gets it back all fresh and clean from the spa.

Why would one do otherewise? Heck, I'd consider it something of an obiligation to my fellow Rolex wearing brother. But, that's just me.

Rolexes can go so damn long between services, I think a lot of non-WIS Rolex owners who've inherited their watch, etc. have never been taught how/when/where to service it. A good deed indeed!

Well, there's an entire thread running now about what to do/what can go wrong when you spot a Rolex in the wild, I thought I'd post one with a good outcome?
