The price increase game

Omega is raising prices July 1st in "anticipation of the Summer Olympics and the upcoming Bond movie release".

Omega would not want anyone to think it is copying Rolex.

It must be that time of year again.

I wonder who's next?

I've never purchased an Omega watch. My assumption is that Omega AD's discount the brand 20% -30%, so MSRP is not true pricing. Is my assumption correct ?

Is this confirmed for the US? I saw a European AD confirmed it on WUS but he wasn't sure if it was happening outside of Europe.

That is the way it used to work. My understanding is approximately three years ago Omega started tightening the holes where watches were going out the back door of the dealers. Like Rolex they started closing distributors and increased prices; driving up exclusivity and demand. The days of the 30% discount from an AD are gone.

I hear you. But , Rolex brand is in the enviable position of dictating how, where, and at what price its products are retailed. Rolex is that strong of a brand.
Other brands aspire to have that power, but are unlikely to ever have it.
I know little about Omega's position within the industry, so the above comments are "general" rather than specific to Omega.
